Wow! Thats my summary of this #TweetTastings

First of all, a massive thank you to Steve @TheWhiskyWire and to Saltire Rare Malt Whisky for allowing me to take part in the evening.

Saltire Rare Malt have been in operation since 2022, based on information on their website they have, at the time of writing, had 9 whisky releases, all sold out.

The first point I would like to mention about this tweet tasting was the high calibre of the tasting pack. It has been put together with thought and consideration of the whisky enthusiast, this alone gives me confidence that they care about whisky, their product and their customers. Included was a brand brochure, a wooden coaster, a pin badge and 4 tasting note cards as pictured above, which included tasting notes, bottle information and room to write your tasting notes.

Then there is the whisky, everyone was well presented, each at 48.8% ABV which, while not necessarily cask strength, at this alcohol level, they didn't need to be, each whisky was full flavoured, bold and expressive, helped along by the natural presentation of being Non-Chill Filtered and Natural Colour.

My only complaint was that I could easily have enjoyed a bigger sample to pour, but I can't really grumble as the samples were my reward for giving up my time to review them.

Each whisky was fantastic and I could easily consider buying each one, but being realistic, for me the Ardmore 14 Year Old Ex-Islay cask finish was the standout. It offered the fruity flavour forward enjoyment of the BenRiach and Dailuaine with the smoke and maritime dimension that comes with the Caol Ila. Priced at £75 it was also the cheapest, which added to the win for me.

Saltire have a very bright future if my experience from the Tweet Tasting is anything to go by, I just wish I had managed to get my hands on a bottle of the Glen Moray 17 Year Old which was Saltire's first release.
